Snoring Stop Tonight!!

Are you aware of the risks of snoring? Are you annoyed when your partner snores and you just couldn’t sleep?  Wouldn’t it be great if your room mate has a snoring remedy? Snoring can actually cut off oxygen that flows to the brain. The result can be serious health problems such as type II diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and even premature death.   Snoring can also be a sign of sleep apnea.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Picture
Sleep apnea means the stoppage of breathing during sleep. This breath-holding initially lasts for 10 seconds and progresses to 20 to 30 seconds, and each episode is immediately followed by gasping for air. This cycle could repeat itself several times the whole night long. The snorer is totally oblivious of all this and only the roommate or partner is aware of this bothersome snoring and scarysleep apnea.

What is the Cause of Snoring?

Picture
What is really the cause of snoring? When people are in their thirties, the muscles of the upper airways in the back of the throat called the soft palate, the uvula, tonsils and adenoids become flabby and vibrate airflow causing them to snore. After a long day at work or when people are really tired, the snoring usually gets louder.

There are a number of ways to stop snoring naturally, but let me just share a few:

Do Not Eat Heavy Meals Before Sleeping

A full stomach can push up your diaphragm, making your breathing passage ways very limited. Try to eat a light meal a few hours before sleeping.

Lose Weight

Those who are overweight snore more. Being obese can block your air passage way - making it difficult to inhale and exhale while you are sleeping. A person who is overweight has a bulky neck, therefore causing him to have decreased air passing through. Try to shed some pounds and you will be surprised with the benefits it could bring. Lead an active lifestyle to be healthier.

Elevate Your Head

Lying flat on the back induces sleep apnea for a lot of people. This could be avoided by placing a pillow behind your back. You can also sleep on a thicker pillow, by adding one or two more under your head. Sleeping in a supine position is another way to help alleviate snoring. Also, an open mouth while sleeping can cause people to snore.

Practice Breathing Exercises

Doing breathing exercises is a simple and effective way to stop snoring. This method works by strengthening the whole breathing passage and the area around it. By doing this, you change the way you breathe and remove tension that blocks your throat.

Inhale Steam Before Going to Bed

When a person has nasal blockage, he will most likely keep his mouth open to be able to breathe through it. This breathing process allows a larger mass of air to flow in, thereby drying up the tissues and membrane within the air passages.

Run a humidifier next to bed, or inhale steam to relieve congestion and mucus build up. It will moisturize your throat and clear everything up. You can also place a warm towel over your head, or stand nearby hot running water to inhale the steam.
